Sportlomo guests of Munster Rugby in Thomond Park

Sportlomo CEO, Seamus Kyne and Marketing Director Vivienne Lee were delighted to be invited as guests to the recent Munster V. Connacht Rugby Game in Thomond Park in Limerick. This is becoming an annual event and much appreciated by the SportLoMo team.

Last year’s invite was taken up by John Lee, Sportlomo Operations Manager.  Munster and Connacht Rugby are long-term users of the Sportlomo system.

Munster beat Connacht 27-14 on the day.  The victory, coupled with with Glasgow’s win over Edinburgh, saw Munster finish second in Conference A.

Tadhg Beirne was awarded Man of the Match and Craig Casey, named Academy Player of the Year earlier this week, came off the bench to make his senior debut in the clash.

Seamus and Vivienne had dinner in the Munster President’s Corporate box, with the Presidents of Munster and Connacht, and officials from both provinces.

How Ireland’s Ulster Rugby use Sportlomo’s Referee and Umpire module

A packed house of over 200 referees were in Ravenhill Park in August 2017 to see the presentation of the Sportlomo Referee Management system.

Ulster Rugby joins Leinster, Munster and Connacht Rugby in using Sportlomo to manage their Match Officials.  With Leinster Rugby the first province to commence using the system for all its competition management in 2007.  All domestic rugby in Ireland is managed on the Sportlomo platform.

The Ulster branch now manage their referees electronically through the Sportlomo system, they can check availability or notify referees by text message and email of their selection for upcoming games.

The new system has vastly increased the speed at accessing team sheets (rosters), referee data and player queries.  Each referee has been allocated their own Sportlomo log-in where a referee can accept or reject fixtures, change their account details or mark their availability throughout the year for games.  See Complete Referee system on a simple Infographic.

The system keeps a log of each match official’s games throughout the season. After each game the referee is required to submit their match report and discipline report to the system. This data automatically feeds through to the Ulster branch.

A further useful feature is the electronic-team sheet (team roster) module. All the clubs in Ireland are required by the IRFU (governing body) to update their player selections online, this gives referees access to team sheets/players online and this integrates with their discipline reports.   The data from each team and player is populated into the Referee system, so this saves the Referees and Match Officials having to retype or duplicate this work.
