Mervue United - Press Release

Mervue United manager Tom French declared himself pleased after his side drew1-1 with Limerick FC in their opening match of the new Airtricity League season.
"Overall the teams work rate and togetherness got us the point. We will learn from this and move on as a better team from it. It’s a long season and i believe we will get stronger along the way.
The spirit in the team is good and we look forward to taking on Athlone Town on Saturday night the only player not available is Dave Goldbey with a knee injury. Players that were suspended previously are now available for selection,  Mike Teirney, Nicky Curran and Liam Mc kenna.
We will need to be at our best against  Athlone as they have put a good side together. Their confidence will be high after beating Salthill last weekend. For us we are looking forward to getting back on the pitch. Last week was a good physical battle for us which i believe we handled very well.
It was a good learning curve for the younger lads and will benefit us going into this week’s game.
Confidence is high at the moment and the lads are pushing each other in training.
With a big squad there is plenty of competition for places which gives us a few options for this week."
