Course Outline and Itinery:

The Humbert Sprint will take place on Saturday July 21st 2012 and will comprise of a 750m swim, a 19km bike ride and a 5km run.

Swim: 750 metres through calm waters of Callow Lake (lake closest to Swinford). Swim will be a triangular loop and will start and finish adjacent to transition. Expect clear and calm waters!

Bike: After getting through T1, the bike route will see competitors exit Callow and immediately turn left onto the main N26 into Foxford. Remember the rules of the road apply so while there will be marshals at all the main junctions it is competitors own responsibility to obey the rules of the road and watch out for passing traffic. Once on the main N26 there is a good surface on rolling roads all the way into Foxford so it will be down into the aero bars from the word go! At 5km the route enters Foxford where it then swings left around the new loop road. The route then travels another 5km along the N58 on good surfaced rolling roads before there is another sharp left hand turn just before the bridge at Ballylahan. The route then enters relatively narrow country roads. The surface of this stretch is 90% excellent and the small patches of poor surface should be patched up closer to race day. There is roughly 4km of the route on this road before competitors rejoing the N26 at Toomore cross roads and then turn left and power on back to Callow and into T2. The actual distance of the route as measured is just shy of 19km.

Run: The Run route is a simple out and back course. Competitors will turn left after T2, run for 2.5km where they will be met the turning point and much needed aid station! There will be a timing mat at the half way turnaround point. The run route is on extremely scenic roads. The one testing point for competitors will come just 1km in where there is a sharp climb. But what goes up must come back down and competitors will have a nice decline for the last 1km of the route. The finish area and gantry will be adjacent to transition.
