The Longford U-15 County Development Squad played Roscommon recently at the sun-kissed Ballyleague grounds in the second of this years U-15 Inter-County Blitzes.

On the day the two Longford panels played two 40-minute games against Roscommon with conditions for all four games very warm and the sweltering weather making the going hard for the young players.  

The teams on the day were managed by county senior players Paddy Dowd (Clonguish) and Martin Brady (Sean Connolly’s) took charge of one of the panels while county senior goalkeeper and county coach Damien Sheridan was in charged of the second.

On the day the Longford sides had mixed fortunes when winning one while in two games they were close results with Longford somewhat unlucky while the were comprehensively defeated in one of the games.

Patrick Farrell (Carrick/Sarsfields) was on fine form for his team while Jordon Mulvihill was on the mark from the penalty spot.

Some new additions to the panel this year, Robert Dowd and Brian Gordon gave a good account of themselves while Patrick Feeney added some much needed height around the middle of the field until he had to go off injured.

Longford Slashers player Niall Kelly always threatened in the attack throughout when notching a few impressive points until he had to also retire early due to injury.

For Longford’s second team Dean Cosgrove was on the mark also from the penalty spot while Killoe’s Larry Moran worked well throughout and up front Mark Cassidy was on the mark with a number of fine scores throughout.
