20011/12 BOYS & GIRLS UNDER 14 RULES
Boys & Girls Common Competition/League Rules
• Auto Pass applies
• SHORT CORNERS: defender cannot play until first shot is taken.
• Substitutions can be made by the Manager/Coach throughout
• Matches include the use of full penalty corners, protective equipment for defenders is advised.
• Winners will be decided by a points system as follows:-
o 0-0 Draw 1 point
o Score Draw 2 points
o Win 3 points
• In the event of two teams achieving the same number of points there will be a play-off.
• Clubs must ensure that each team play at least three matches before Christmas.
Girls Specific Competition/League Rules
• Girls A Team 11 a-side
• Girls B & C teams of 8 - squad maximum of 12
• Girls who were born in 1997 or after are eligible to play in the U-14 League.
• INTERPROVINCIAL players (girls) cannot play in the U-14 league
• The girls league may be split into 2/3 sections A/B/C.
The stronger players will play in section A only.
Players in A cannot play down in section B or C.
• Players can play a maximum of two hockey matches at a higher level i.e. TEENS/Ladies league and on playing a third match can no longer play in the U-14 league
• 25 minutes a side
Boys Specific Competition/League Rules
• Boys teams of 8. squad maximum of 12
• Boys who were born in 1997 or after are eligible to play in the U-14 League.
• 30 minutes a side
Captain's Responsibilities:
• The captain on the day must wear a distinctive armband
• Home team Captain to return match card to Mary Walsh, Killountain, Bandon, Co. Cork within 7 days of playing.
• Match card shall include the names of the panel, the name of the competition, the venue and date of the fixture
• Match card must be handed to one of the Umpires before the match and the Umpire shall enter the score and the number of scorers.
• Home Captain is ultimately responsible for the correct completion of the card and that both Captains have signed the match card.
Club's Responsibilities:
• Each team must have a Goalkeeper on the pitch at all times during play who must wear protective headgear
• Home club is responsible for making sure that the pitch is marked with drop down lines and the "D" set up correctly. The use of Munster Branch mini goals is allowed, otherwise please use standard goals.
• All participating Clubs must have adequate insurance
• Each Club to provide an umpire
• Umpires decisions are absolutely final and abuse of the umpires will not be tolerated
• Host Club to supply match balls etc.
• Clubs are responsible for their own players at all times during the U-14 League.
• Each team must be accompanied by at least TWO adults for the duration of the competition
• Teams must wear the same colour tops i.e. t-shirts or polo shirts
• Shin pads and gum shields are to be worn by all players
• Teams to bring their own first Aid kits
• Each team to bring their own drinks and packet lunch etc.
Branch Trophies
• All Branch Trophies shall be perpetual challenge trophies and cannot be won outright
• All Branch trophies shall be signed for.
• All Branch trophies shall be returned clean & engraved.
• Clubs failing to adhere to this rule may be subject to a €50 fine.
