Galway’s losing run in the Allianz League came to an end today with a well merited win over Armagh and it was a vital two points for the ‘Men in Maroon’ who could yet retain Div 1 status. The return of Padraic Joyce who shot five points and was fouled for the penalty played a major part in Galway’s return to winning ways but he was not the only star as wing back Gary Sice gave a ‘Man of the Match’ display . Galway welcomed All-Ireland and current League champions Cork to Pearse Stadium today and in the end were unlucky not to have anything to show after the game, it was whole hearted display from the ‘Men in Maroon ‘who lead at the break by two points 0-9 to 0-7. Cork opened the scoring with a point from Pearse ONeill inside two minutes but Matthew Clancy had it all square two minutes later but the visitors had the next three points from Daniel Goulding to lead by 0-4 to 0-1 on twelve minutes. Galway travelled to Killarney for round four of the Allianz League today and are still waiting for their first league points of the year as the ‘Kingdom’ had eight points to spare in the end 0-16 to 0-8, and once again Colm Cooper was class above the rest scoring eight points. Galway poor league form continued to day in Tuam Stadium as they were out classed by Mayo in round three of the Allianz league, despite a good start that produced three unanswered points from Joe Bergin on seven minutes and Cormac Bane shot two points in as many minutes to see the home side lead by three after eleven minutes. .There is no stopping the success of Abbeyknockmoy Set Dancers. On Saturday evening last in the Travellers Friend Hotel in Castlebar, the Abbeyknockmoy Set Dancers secured their first ever All Ireland Scor na Nog title, a title that has not been won by a Galway group since 1975, when a group of dancers from Loughrea took the prize. Despite having won four senior scor titles, Abbeyknockmoy set dancers had never previously won Scor na Nog.
