North Down Primary School Hurling Blitz – January 2012
St Paul’s GAC Holywood enjoyed running our first ever Primary Schools hurling blitz in April last year. It was well attended by St Patrick’s PS, Glencraig IPS and St Comgall’s PS.
The aim of the blitz was to provide the opportunity for new children to come and try the game at the St Paul’s club, as a follow on to the in-schools coaching provided during the year.
To coincide with the hurling coaching being undertaken in your schools at present by both Karol Keating (Down GAA) and Ryan McQuillan (North Down Borough Council), St Paul’s GAC will run a similar blitz this Saturday 14th January from 2 - 4pm.
Given the time of year the blitz will be run at Eddie Irvine’s Sport’s Centre in Bangor, where the club occasionally train and competes in competitions run by the Down GAA.
We plan on hiring two pitches at the venue – one for P4/P5 age group and another for P6/P7 age group.
As with last year we again have St Comgalls Bangor, Glencraig & St Patricks Holywood and we would like to thank the teachers involved for their interest, help & commitment again in organizing this blitz. We are all looking forward to another successful session for the young children from North Down and do hope that these sessions will strengthen our relationship with the schools involved and our intention is to invite more local schools in the future.
