DENI COACH:
Garreth Thornton

Garreth Thornton is a member of St Mary’s GAC, Burren. He obtained a BA Hons degree in Sports Studies from the University of Central Lancashire, Preston.

Garreth has also obtained a level 3 Diploma in Sports Massage Therapy, and is currently the Masseuse to the Down Senior Football Team.

Garreth has been employed by the Ulster Council for the past two years as a Primary Schools Coach and works predominantly in the Newry and Mourne area of Co. Down.

DENI COACH:
Gavin Phillips

Gavin is one of three members of the coaching staff from outside county Down.

Gavin is from the St Jopseph’s club in Glenavy, Co. Antrim.

Gavin Studied PE at St Mary's University College Belfast, and is in his second year as a member of staff with the Ulster Council.

Gavin works closely with the Primary Schools in the North Down area delivering a physical literacy programme to children of Key Stage 1 age. 

DENI COACH:
Lisa McCrickard

Lisa is a member of the famed Liatroim Fontenoys club. She studied Sports and Exercise Sciences at the University of Ulster at Jordanstown.

As a player Lisa has collected many accolades with both Club and County, most significantly two All-Ireland Junior Camogie Championships with her club.  Lisa has represented Down at all levels in Camogie and was joint captain of the Down Camogs in 2009.

Lisa has been a member of the Ulster Council coaching staff for the past three years, based predominantly in the greater Downpatrick area.

DENI COACH:
Macartan McKenna

Macartan is from the Scotstown club in Co.Monaghan.

Macartan currently works as a Primary Schools coach in the Newry Area.

Macartan Studied Physical Education at Glasgow University. Currently the coaching officer for his local club, Macartan is heavily involved in juvenile coaching. He is currently the coach of his clubs u14 team.

DENI COACH:
Brian Laverty

Brian Laverty is from the Na Fianna Club in Coalisland, Co.Tyrone.

As a player Brian has won a variety of accolades at both senior and juvenile level, including a Tyrone Div 1 League winners medal in 2002.

Brian studied at Bangor University, Wales and represented the Welsh Universities Select team in 2006.

Brian served as Club Youth Officer from 2004-2006 and is currently a member of the clubs youth committee.

Prior to his post with Ulster GAA, Brian worked as a primary schools coach for Tyrone GAA for two years.

DENI COACH:
Ciarán Murtagh

A member of the Ballyholland Harps Club.

Ciaran is still currently active in the club as both a player and committee member.  In his 11 years as a senior player, Ciaran has won two Intermediate Championships and two ACFL Div 2 winners medals.

Ciaran is the chairman of Ballyholland juvenile coaching committee and is coach of the clubs U-16 team.

Now in his third year with Ulster GAA, Ciaran is employed as a Primary Schools Coach in the Newry / Banbridge areas of County Down.

DENI COACH:
Fionntán O'Dowd

Fionntán is a member of the Tullylish Club, where he has played at every level from juvenile through to senior. He is also currently the juvenile coaching officer for Tullylish GAC.

Fionntán studied Sports Science at the University of Ulster Jordanstown.

Currently employed by the Ulster GAA Council as a Primary Schools Coach, Fionntán delivers a fundamental based physical literacy programme to primary schools in the Banbridge area of Co Down.
