Under 12's and Youth Team in Connacht Cup Deciders   04/05/2012

It is a big weekend for both the club's under 12 and Youth teams as they represent the club in their respective Connacht provincial finals which take place this year in Abbeycarton in Longford.

Mervue Utd v Westport Utd - Under 12 Connacht Cup Final

Saturday, Kick-off 12 noon at Abbeycarton, Longford

The club's under 12 team face Mayo side Westport Utd in the Connacht Cup final on Saturday morning at 12 noon.

Damien Brennan and Rynal Browne's team will be looking to win the cup for the first since 2005 for the club. Ronan Manning got the only goal of their semi-final win over another Mayo side when they defeated Castlebar Celtic in the last four.

This young side had already defeated Tuam Celtic (6-3), Athenry (5-1), Real Tubber (4-3) and Kiltimagh/Knock (4-1) in the earlier rounds.

They will be looking for key performances from goalkeeper Cian Mulryan who has been in excellent form all season along with impressive centre backs Wilson Wawreu and Hakeem Ryan, who have formed a solid partnership at the back.

Goal scorer and midfielder Ronan Manning is the creative spark and leader on the pitch, while young Colin Kelly, the youngest member of the squad, has been in flying form on the left wing along with Ryan Lally who has led the line well and scored some important goals also. But all in all it has been a squad performance that has got the side to this stage.

Goals have not been a problem for the side as Cian Gilroy and Jason Gorham have also chipped in with important goals along the way with the team having scored 20 goals in the previous five rounds.

All support would be much appreciated by this young squad as they look to lift the provincial title.

The club's youth team will face near neighbours Renmore in the Connacht Youth Cup final on Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m. in Longford and will be hoping to retain the title for the club for a second successive year.

Justin Neary and Colin Nolan's squad had a hard earned semi-final win over Mayo side Kiltimagh/Knock Utd in the last four as second half goals from Ryan Manning and Thomas Gleeson eventually saw them advance to the provincial decider having come from a goal down at the break.
